YOGA CHISEL

Often times I will be told, “I have no abdominal muscles.” I say, “If you had no abdominals you wouldn’t be able to stand up, of course you have abdominals.” They say, “But I have no abdominals, it’s all mush there.”

I strive to remind people that they are not the weaklings they perceive themselves to be. Just to live each day and move through one’s life takes strength. I have a passionate interest in helping people to redefine their relationship with their bodies. In fact, I’m on a mission to do so.

In my own life I have faced many physical challenges. (I am facing arthritis in the hips at the moment.) I have learned that the body is a magnificent gift. It is full of intelligence and life. It has its way of communicating with us. I am in the business of teaching people to listen to their unique signals and find their sources of strength and weakness so that, we can use the Pilates mat work to balance it all out. It’s a process. I ask people to do at least ten sessions before they decide if it is for them. I call the process one of “dropping down and in” to the core of the body: the trunk.

I have worked to perfect new ways of helping my students to find the resources within themselves. My Yoga Chisel series combines the mat work with my own brand of body/mind exercises to transform the whole form from the inside, out.
